Yunnan Black Tea is also call dianhong. The tea leaves are grown around 1000 meters above sea-level. Low mountain temperatures allow the leaves to grow slowly acquiring an uniquely intense taste. The main difference between Dianhong and other Chinese black teas is the amount of fine leaf buds, or "golden tips," present in the dried tea.
This leaf is plucked in the early spring from sub-varietal tea bushes that send out new leaf that is smaller in size than that of other tea bushes in this region. The flavor of this tea has a slight leathery, smoky initial taste, followed by the familiar dian hong biscuit, caramel flavor.
Other names: Yunnan tea, Yunnan Red tea
    Origin: Yunnan Province, China
Aroma: Sweet, graceful golden straw and meadowsweet notes with a little haunting dried mushroom and spice
Taste: Dark, rich, tangy and deep, with lots of tapered liquorice spice notes to lend the rich fruit gravity. Some gentle tannic grip provides textural brightness and bite.
